I have sixteen years of tax experience in the private sector, the ATO and more recently academia. In the private sector I worked in small accounting firms as I enjoy dealing with clients and being able to offer broad solutions. In the ATO I started as an auditor and then worked my way up to a Team and Technical Leader in Review and Dispute Resolution dealing mainly with individuals and small to medium businesses. More recently I have enjoyed working as a teacher at Victoria University, which I do alongside my CPA/CTA small business. Over the years I have been involved with many audits, objections and AAT appeals (for and against the ATO) which I have been successful in. I have extensive knowledge of individual and small business taxation; especially residency, period of review, international taxation, capital gains tax and trusts. Furthermore, I have strong tax administration skills in penalties and objections. This practical experience has been complimented with a Bachelor of Business, CPA and more recently a Graduate Diploma of Taxation. I have a lengthy history of volunteering to help those in need, including people with tax issues that do not have the financial resources or knowledge to help themselves. Furthermore, I have volunteered extensively in my wider community for many years with organisations such as BZE and Camp Quality.
